Who will be the WBC winner in 2009?

As far as Japan is concerned, 34 players who will participate in next year's World Baseball Classic (WBC) have been announced.
Ichiro, Dice-K, Kuroda are among those who have been selected. On March 5 at the Tokyo Dome Japan will bat and pitch against China. Japan, China, Chinese Taipei and Korea are in Pool A. And if everything goes as planned, the final game will be held on March 23 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angels, California. Will Japan make it to the final? Will the Japanese Samurai team be the winner again?

It will, in my opinion, depend on who will join the Dominican Republic team next year. A-Rod said he will. If all among-the-best players in the Major League are committed to their home country, they will be the toughest bunch of ball players to beat. Albert Pujols, the MVP of the National League this season, Manny Ramirez, Valdimir Guerrero, Hanley Ramirez, Jose Guillen, David Ortiz, Alfonso Soriano (who used to play for the Hiroshima Carps) , Pedro Martinez are all proud Dominicans.

Yes, Cubans and Americans are also strong contenders for the winning position. But I will bet that the Dominican team from the Carribean is the typhoon we must be aware of in the 2009 WBC. Then, how the Japanese Samurai team fare in the games? Frankly, and regrettably, I wouldn't expect too much of them.

２００９年ＷＢＣの勝者はどこ？

日本に関しては、来年のワールド・ベースボール・クラシック（ＷＢＣ)に参加する３４人の選手が発表されました。イチロー、松坂、黒田選手も参加選手に名前を連ねています。３月５日、東京ドームで日本は中国と対戦します。日本、中国、台北、韓国チームはＡ組です。そして、全てが予定通りに進めば、３月２３日に、カリフォルニア州のロスにあるドジャー・スタジアムで決勝戦が行われます。日本は最終戦に進めるでしょうか？日本のサムライチームは再び、チャンピオンとなるのでしょうか？　


私の個人的な意見ですが、日本がチャンピオンになるかどうかは、ドミニカ共和国のチームに参加する選手によっては、ヤバイ感じがします。Ａロッド（アレックス・ロドリゲス）は参加を表明しています。もし、メジャーリーグの最高選手軍団が、自分たちの祖国のためにやる気を出せば、これは最高のタフ集団となり、勝つのは非常に難しい。２００８年度のナショナル・リーグのＭＶＰを獲ったアルバート・プホルス、マニー・ラミレス、ブラディミール・ゲレーロ、ハンリー・ラミレス、ホセ・ギーエン、デイビッド・オルティス、アルフォンソ・ソリアーノ（昔、広島カープでプレーしたことがある）、ペドロ・マルティネスなど、全員が誇り高いドミニカ人なんです。

もちろん、キューバやアメリカチームも勝つ可能性が高い。でも私はカリブ海のドミニカ共和国が、気をつけなければいけない、２００９年ＷＢＣの台風の目になると思っています。それでは、我が日本のサムライチームはどうなんでしょうか？正直に言うと、残念ながら、あまり期待はしていません。言うべきではないのですが、言います。私の予想が正しいかどうか、見てみましょう。
