Yeah, they made it! ヤッタね！

Hello, everyone! Terry again.
It's a kind of "Long time. no see" feeling.
I have been away for some months. Not physically, but mentally.
Anyway, let me talk about my favorite sport: baseball.

As many of you know, Ichiro has made history (his story):more than 200 hits in a season for eight consecutive years.
I believe he has got a foot in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
Next year when he reaches base on his 200th hit, he will get both of his feet in there and will be a legend.
Or he already has, since the year of 2004 when he batted his record-breaking 262 hits.
His sheer will and efforts to make himself a better ball player every year is just unbelievable!
And equally unbelievable is the fact that a Mariners clubhouse insider was quoted in a newspaper as saying that strong hatred from some teammates was so great that he was afraid Ichiro would be attacked. Humans are human, so it may well not be unbelievable after all. Jealousy, perhaps. But isn't it sad?

Before I forget, I have to mention Gun-chan, Mr. Iwamura in The Tampa Bay Rays. He will be playing in the playoffs. The Rays have never been in the postseason. Another history. They may even go to the World Series and win the championship. God only knows! Gun-chan, go for it! And don't miss the Champagne Fight next time.

And all of you, Matsuyama fans. You, too. Whatever you do,
do it hard and well, as well as Ichiro and Gun-chan. Bye now.

皆さん、今日は。テリー、２回目の登場です。
「しばらくぶりだなあ」という感じがしています。ここ何か月か留守にしていました。気持ち的にですが。
それはともかく、私の大好きな野球の話をしたいと思います。

皆さんご存知の通り、イチローが偉業を達成しましたね。８年連続２００本安打です。彼はいま野球殿堂に片足を入れています。来年、２００本目の安打を打った時、彼は間違いなく野球殿堂入りし、伝説の選手となるでしょう。いや、もうすでに伝説の人かも。新記録の２６２本のヒットを打った２００４年からず〜と。
毎年、更にうまい選手になろうとする彼の強固な意志と努力は、本当に信じ難いことです。
信じ難いことと言えば、マリナーズのクラブ関係者が新聞で、「チームメイトの中には彼に敵対心を抱く者がおり、イチローが襲われる」ともらした記事があったことです。人間は弱いものだから、それほど信じ難いことではないのかも知れません。嫉妬心かな。でも、悲しいね。

忘れるといけないので言っておきますが、我らが岩チャン、タンパ・ベイ・レイズの岩村選手が、プレイオフに出ます。レイズがポストシーズンに出場するのは、これが初めてです。これも偉業ですね。
ワールドシリーズまで行って、優勝するかも知れませんよ。誰もこれから先のことはわかりませんからね！　ガンバレ、岩チャン！そして、今度こそ、シャンパン・ファイトの現場に居ましょう。

それから、松山ファンの皆さん。皆さんも、何をやるにしても、一生懸命やって下さい。イチローや岩チャンのように。 それでは、また。
